The seed feeders we have in stock are suitable for small or large gardens, as they can be hung from nearby trees, poles or bird feeding stations.
The type of food you plan on feeding the new inhabitants of your garden will ultimately determine the type of feeder you opt for. For instance, the peanut feeder is designed specifically to hold peanuts and because these are also an irresistible treat for squirrels, most of these are squirrel proof; which brings us onto one of our more popular feeders – the squirrel proof bird feeders. We have an extensive range of squirrel proof bird feeders and these have been specifically designed to prevent those pesky squirrels from stealing all the food away from your lovely birds.
We also have a lovely range of ground feeding trays and bird feeding stations which are more than a decorative addition to the garden. The ground feeding trays are perfect for birds which like to feed on the ground, and because they have a mesh top the water will drain away to prevent the bird food from developing mould. Help your local birds keep clean throughout the year, by carefully placing an ornamental bird bath in your garden which provides clean water for them to drink and clean in. Bird baths are very important, and if you have already transformed your garden into a tranquil haven for wild birds and garden birds, then they are a much needed addition to your garden.
At Bird Feeders 4 Less we supply bird baths which have been specifically designed for birds. For this reason we sell mini bird baths and ceramic bird baths. Aside from being a decorative feature in your garden, the hanging mini bird bath is designed with sloping slides which allows the birds to step down into the bird bath. This is needed, as most wild birds drink by dipping their bill into the water and throwing their heads back in order to swallow.
With this in mind, the bird bath needs to have a rough surface which will allow the birds to grip the edge of the bath; this is especially important as they use the water to clean their feathers. Our mini bird bath can either be placed on the ground or hung in a safe place. If you have a bird bath and you are wondering why birds are not using it, then you may want to consider moving it.
Where to Position Your Bird Bath
The location of a bird bath needs to be well thought out, as if it’s in the wrong location you won’t get any visitors. Therefore, when you come to position your bird bath in your garden you need to consider location and potential predators.
These two factors walk hand in hand, and you will want to place the bird bath in an open location which is not overshadowed by surrounding trees or shrubbery. This said, you still want there to be nearby shelter which is close enough to offer protection but far enough away a predator couldn’t use it to ambush the birds. The key to getting birds to use your bird bath is to ensure they feel completely safe when they come to use.
The ceramic bird bath we supply is one of our favourites, and is normally a win with the birds in your life. Much like the mini version, the large ceramic bird bath can be hung on a tree branch or a pole, and it can even be placed on the ground. It has been glazed and the chain has been galvanised, making it frost resistant.
Most birds will get the majority of the water from their food, but if they are seed-eating birds they will struggle to get any water into their system, which is why bird baths are more than a decorative feature. Browse through the selection of bird baths available, and welcome an abundance of new wildlife into your garden.

If you want to transform your garden into a hotbed of wild activity, we have a few top tips which will successfully encourage wildlife into your back garden. The garden is one of the most important areas for wild inhabitants, providing much-needed shelter, food and water – to learn exactly what wildlife feed and shelter you should provide to attract different types of animals be sure to read on.
How to Encourage Birds into Your Garden
If you set out to encourage wild birds into your garden you will naturally attract other forms of wildlife, especially squirrels who love to raid the bird table. In fact, if your sole purpose is to feed the birds you’ll want to invest in a squirrel proof bird feeder otherwise they will eat everything you put out for your birds. Trust us, they are gannets!
One tip for attracting lots of different birds is to place a bird feeder, bird table or a bird bath in your garden. By having a regular source of wildlife feed and fresh water you will quickly encourage wildlife into your garden – along with lots of other creatures. At Bird Feeders 4 Less we have a wide selection of different bird feeds which will appeal to lots of other wildlife.
How to Live With Squirrels
In most cases, if you place wildlife feed out for the birds then the grey squirrel will quickly follow, hot in pursuit of an easy meal. The trouble arises when the squirrels eat every morsel, leaving the poor birds with nothing. While you can invest in squirrel proof bird feeders, another good tip is to invest in a squirrel feeder – creating a separate place for them to eat from.
How to Encourage Hedgehogs into Your Garden
Hedgehogs are lovely creatures and while you can tempt them into your garden with a selection of tasty wildlife feeds, which consists of dog food (not fish), minced meat, fresh liver or anyone of the selection of hedgehog feeds which are available.
Aside from wildlife feed, you need to consider the habitat of your garden. To attract hedgehogs you can pile logs in the corner of a garden and let it get overgrown, or you can invest in a pre-made hedgehog home. Plus, if you have a pond (a great investment for any wildlife enthusiast) you may want to place a few bricks or stones by the side, to allows hedgehogs to climb out of the pond should they fall in.
How to Catch Sight of a Wild Badger
Typically, you will inherit badgers with a house rather than encourage them into your garden. However they tend to like gardens with hedges or woodland at the back, providing them with easy access out of the garden and the opportunity to roam. If you want to catch a glimpse of these elusive creatures try putting out peanuts or a special mix of wildlife feed which is specifically made for badgers.
How to Encourage Foxes
Foxes are incredibly adaptable, which is why they live in many different environment, from urban towns to country farms – they will live anywhere with food; which brings us onto our next topic. Foxes don’t require specialist wildlife feed, and in fact will eat anything from boiled potatoes to cheese and raw chicken. Be careful not to put too much food out, as you don’t want to become the main food supply for foxes, as they may not move far away if all the food they need is in one easy place.
